Not all the News

The first few rows of my Current in Cloud Jungle
I have been wanting to write about TNNA, all the great products we saw (and bought!) Yarn, patterns, bags and needles.  I have been swamped since we got back, and I want to bring you up to date on the Current KAL that's starting tomorrow, June 22nd at 6:30.  I received all the Smooshy with Cashmere from Dream in Color.  It came in yesterday.  The colors are fantastic and I have a couple that are not spoken for: Grey Tabby, Vintage Port and Torchwood.  Knit 1 cleaned them out, but they are dyeing more, so if you want to come late to the party you can!

You will need your downloaded pattern, size 4, 5 and 6 circular needles for swatching; stitch markers and cable needles - though I learned a GREAT new trick last night which I'll share with you.  Thanks, Janet!!  My goal is to get through swatching, cast on and a couple rows of the pattern.

I will bring refreshments.

Stay tuned for the new class schedule, news about the Second Annual Yarn Crawl and a preview of new products coming to Knit 1.  Hope to see many of you tomorrow night.

...and in other news, we're going to be closed next Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (June 10-13) while we go to the BIG yarn trade show, TNNA.  It's where the industry shows off all its new products and trends.  It's very exciting and jam-packed with yarn, books, knitters, crocheters, books and authors, and we'll come back with great new stuff for the store!  New products will start arriving soon after we return, so stay posted.  So, if there's anything you need before next weekend please come in or call so we can make sure you have what you need while we're off shopping.

Speaking of need, I need to make the sweater from the last post-- Current.  Details on this project are here in this Ravelry link. We are going to do it as a knit-along starting Wednesday, June 22nd.  It's knit in Dream in Color's amazing new yarn, Smooshy with Cashmere.  I have already sold through the first shipment, and we're ordering specifically for this project which means that we can get ANY of their amazing colors dyed specially for us at Knit 1.  Dream in Color is working on their website and all the colors are visible here.  So KAL participants will have to figure out how much they need and we'll be ordering in the next couple of days.  I will order some of our proven favorites so there will be some great choices at the store, but if you want to order a specific color, you will have to place your order with me by next Monday, June 5th.

More new summer yarns came in.  A great worsted cotton yarn with a bit of elastic called Cotton Twirl from Crystal Palace.  The colors are subtle and nuanced.  It's $6 for 92 yards.  It could be a great garment or home accessory.  The other yarn, which is one of the shop's favorites, is here in great, great new colors-- Venezia.  It's merino and silk, but think summer wrap.   We have it in 7 new sophisticated seasonal colors.  We also have new books.  From Noro (need I say more?) is Knit Noro.  There are some really funny books with knitted Amigurumi and other creatures.  And for all you sock knitters and sock knitters-to-be (class starts next Tuesday 6/7) we have some gorgeous new Misti Alpaca Sock.

We'll see you soon at Knit 1 where the AC is always on!
