Back to regular hours with the exception of Saturday, September 18th when we will be closed in observance of Yom Kippur.

Our Knit Along Kick Off was a blast.  I think there was evidence of the good time on Facebook if I'm not mistaken thanks to Carrie!  Everyone's Shawl is coming along quite nicely and once you get past that weird cable it starts to take shape.  Cori had a great idea: she's doing her armhole toward the beginning rather than the end so she can make her shawl longer.  We also added a few extra stitches to the pattern for several people who wanted wider shawls.  It's an easily adaptable pattern.  I did get the Pacolana in and Amy is going to knit her's in that.  I can't wait to see how it knits up.  It's a bulky wool with a nylon core so it's lofty and light and comes in really pretty colors.  I'm taking it as my trip knitting.  I'm doing a store sample with it which I will reveal to you if it works out!  It's a bit of an experiment...

Our Knit Along will conclude on September 29th with a door prize!  Feel free to stop by during open hours if you have questions or need help with your shawl.

We also have a sample at the store of the Venus Rising Cardigan designed by Lucy Neatby who will be presenting a workshop for the Windy City Knitting Guild in November http://www.windycityknittingguild.com/ZNeatby201011.htm Our sample garment was knit by Jackie Zydeck from Kauni yarn which we now have in stock in all colors.  It's quite gorgeous stuff and is what Lucy has requested for the participants of the workshop.  All WCKG members receive a 10% discount on yarn.
Jackie also loaned us The Bubble Scarf knit in Kauni.  This is a Lucy Neatby pattern which is available online here http://www.lucyneatby.com/bubbles_scarf.html Although this picture is beautiful you must see this in person.  It's double knit and the bubbles are 3 dimensional!

Coming up toward the end of September we will be hosting a book signing with author (knitter and blogger) Mary Beth Klatt who has written Chicago's Fashion History:  1865 - 1945.  The event will be on Friday, September 24th and begins at 5PM.  Come meet Mary Beth, buy her book, and enjoy a glass of wine!

Have a wonderful, safe and knit-filled Labor Day and I'll see you in a couple of weeks.
