This week we begin our fall hours: the shop will now be open on Wednesdays from 1 - 8:30! Open Knit Night (Weds. 6:30 - 8:30) has been a blast and we are officially changing the name to Open Knit and Crochet Night, thanks to the crocheters who have been joining us.
Coming up this Friday, September 24th, Mary Beth Klatt will be signing her book Chicago's Fashion History: 1865-1945.  Join us from 5:30 - 8 for a glass of wine and a chat with the author.  Just look at the photo on the cover!  Do you need more incentive than that!!

Finally, Sock Class! This 4 session class has been really popular.  Beginning on October 9th at 10:00AM, learn to knit in the round on double pointed needles, turn a heel, knit short rows and finish off the toe using Kitchener stitch.  We have some fabulous sock yarns right now and nothing says "perfect holiday gift" like a pair of hand-knit socks!

Beginning Knitting starts on Tuesday, October 5th from 6:30 - 8:30.  In this 4 session class you will learn all the basics and begin a small project.

Please call 773.244.1646 or email info@knit1chgo.com to register.  A 50% deposit is required to sign up.

Adaline in Pacolana

I'm knitting with Pacolana from Schulana http://www.skacelknitting.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.38002/.f  It's 47% Virgin Wool - 23% Alpaca - 30% Microfiber; 148 yards per 50 gram ball; 5-7 mm (approx. US 8-10.75) needles; Approx. 3.5 sts per inch.  It's quite wonderful to knit with and I love the loftiness of it.  I tried it on a size 9 and a size 10.5 and it works equally well.

Other new yarns are starting to come in as well.  You must see the new Rasta from Malabrigo, it's hanging on the wall as you walk in and is working up beautifully as a cowl and a capelet!  I'm also really excited about Rodeo from Schulana.  Mohair is the hot trend for this year and this is my favorite color.
Rodeo
It knits up beautifully and quickly and will make such a spectacular holiday gift!  It's on the bookshelf on the left toward the front of the store.

As other things come in I'll post.  I hope to see you all this week for Open Knit and Crochet Night and Mary Beth's book signing.
